Why is Legal ID Required?

Local authorities require proof of identity for children claiming funded hours. This helps prevent fraud and ensures funding goes to eligible children.

Accepted Documents

  • Birth Certificate - Original or certified copy
  • Adoption Certificate - For adopted children
  • Passport - Valid passport
  • Other Official Document - In exceptional circumstances

Recording Legal ID

  1. View the original document
  2. In the child's profile, select the document type seen
  3. Optionally upload a copy of the document
  4. Mark as 'Legal ID Seen' to confirm verification

Important: You should see the original document, not a photocopy. Photocopies may be uploaded for your records but don't replace viewing the original.
